- CMDVS: Control Monitoring Data processing and Visualisation Software
- GSE: Ground Station Equipment. Any equipment used to interact with flight equipment that isn't part of the instrument itself.
- GU: Ground unit.
- GUC: Ground Unit Computer. Computer used to control the GU.
- IOR: Instrument Operations Request. Outlines operational commands for STIX and is uploaded to the instrument.
- MOC: Mission Operations Centre. Located at Darmstadt. Manages Solar Orbiter satellite operations as distinct from science instrument operations.
